Putney Vermont has a good number social service organizations;
Putney Cares is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 1985 by citizens dedicated to the service of our elderly community. Our mission is to enable Putney’s older residents to remain independent and at home as long as they wish and to help the community reunite with its elders by providing and encouraging opportunities for elders to make new friends of all ages and be involved in a variety of undertakings and activities. Putney cares has the following programs – Monthly Lunches, Folk Dancing, Foot Clinic, Gentle Yoga, Living Strong (Exercise class), Art classes and the meals on wheels program.
Putney Family Services
Putney Family Services developed from a conversation between concerned citizens and the school principal and counselor who saw the need to address the factors that were inhibiting student learning and success. These factors were many including poverty and hunger. Over a year of planning and discussions, Putney Family Services began serving the community at large with the mission to “identify and address the factors that promote the healthy development of children”. The programs that serve our mission are ever evolving so as to better serve our community.
In addition to their services PFS helps run the Thursday Night Free Health Clinic 79 Main St. Putney, VT 05346
